Tramore is a seaside town in County Waterford, and the racecourse hosts both jumps and Flat racing. Tramore is famous for its festival which takes place in August every year, which has been going for over 200 years. The course stages 11 days of racing over the year, with its four-day summer meeting in August including three evening fixtures, and the two-day New Year meeting incorporating the last day of the old year and the first day of the New Year. There are also two-day fixtures in April and May, and a single day of racing in October.
Tramore is a right-handed, undulating, round track that is about seven and a half furlongs in length. Many of the turns are sharp and it is a track that many horses patently fail to act around. The straight is a little over a furlong in length and is on an incline.

The turns are sharp and although sections of the course are on the climb Tramore very much favours the handy type of horse. There are five fences to a circuit of the chase course with a long downhill run to the second last which is situated just before the short, uphill home straight. The run-in is around 160 yards.
